About The Position

As a Hot Prep Cook, you will prepare all hot food items for both patient and non-patient food services. You will follow production plans and recipes as assigned by the Executive Chef, Food & Nutrition Supervisor, or Production Leader.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, recognize, and differentiate between words and series of numbers
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers
  • Six (6) months of fast food production or kitchen food production

Responsibilities

  • Assist with tray assembly, preparation of special diet needs (puree meals, supplements, or non-patient services)
  • Know basic food preparation techniques including receiving, storing, preparation, and holding of food items
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of food service sanitation and infection control procedures, including HAACP guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with the Executive Chef, Food and Nutrition Supervisor, Group Leaders, and food service team peers
  • Show a willingness to assist in other areas of the kitchen (e.g., cold prep, bakery, store room, café serving line, dish room, or tray line)
  • Comply with hospital standards, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies and legal standards
