About The Position

Dickerson & Bowen is a leading provider of aggregates, asphalt and asphalt paving services in central and southern Mississippi. D&B operates four asphalt plants and two active sand and gravel plants and is a natural extension to our recently established Southeast platform, further strengthening our vertically integrated footprint. The General Summary describes the role as performing any combination of tasks such as erecting, repairing, and wrecking; installing waterworks, locks and dams; and grading.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience
• On the job training required.
• Follow specific directions
• Perform a variety of duties which may often change; work within standards of accuracy
• Repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure
• Evaluate information using measurable standards.
• Stand or walk for long periods
• Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects
• Lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds
• Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and see (naturally or with correction).

Responsibilities

• Digs, spreads, and levels dirt and gravel, using pick and shovel.
• Lifts, carries, and holds materials, tools, and supplies.
• Cleans tools, equipment, materials, and work areas.
• Mixes, pours, and spreads concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials, using handtools.
• Joins, wraps, and seals sections of pipe.
• Performs a variety of routine, non-machine tasks, such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with asphalt, and placing culvert sections in trench.
