About The Position

The Urbandale Service Center proudly supports customers throughout the greater Des Moines market and surrounding communities. Strategically located in Urbandale, our team delivers comprehensive commercial foodservice equipment repair, installation, and preventive maintenance services to restaurants, healthcare facilities, schools, hospitality groups, and institutional kitchens across central Iowa. Backed by the national strength and resources of Tech24, our Urbandale branch combines local market expertise with expanded technical capabilities. Our technicians service a wide range of equipment including commercial refrigeration systems, hot-side cooking equipment, HVAC, and specialty foodservice equipment. As part of the Des Moines team and broader Tech24 network, the HVACR Technicians plays a critical role in servicing refrigeration (cold side) commercial kitchen equipment. This role is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of commercial kitchen and refrigeration systems while delivering exceptional customer service. This position is ideal for a skilled technician who takes pride in solving problems, minimizing customer downtime, and representing the company with professionalism.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of commercial foodservice and/or refrigeration repair experience
  • EPA Universal certification required
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record required
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation as needed
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and blueprints
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs. and work in varying indoor / outdoor conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from heights, and crawl in tight quarters
  • Own industry standard hand tools

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on commercial kitchen equipment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair commercial refrigeration systems (walk-ins, reach-ins, prep tables, ice machines, etc.)
  • Perform preventative maintenance to ensure safe efficient equipment operations
  • Accurately document service calls, parts used, labor hours, and customer interactions in company system
  • Clearly communicate repair status, recommendations, and timelines to customers
  • Manage truck inventory to ensure proper parts and tools are stocked
  • Respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner
  • Represent the company with professionalism while delivering high-quality customer service
  • Follow all safety regulations and company policies
  • Participate in ongoing technical training and professional development opportunities
