About The Position

This is a Level II, Support Staff position, supervised by the DeWitt Store Manager.
Requirements
- Experience working in food service, restaurant, or deli desirable.
- Effective interpersonal communication with team members and customers.
- Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments.
- Open to input/feedback on work performance.
- Open to giving input/feedback on Prepared Foods department.
- Self-Driven/Motivated throughout shift.
- Knowledge or interest in learning about natural foods, local products, local farms.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands, stay calm, and prioritize.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds repetitively.
Responsibilities
- Prep foods for Hot/Cold food bars and maintain proper records to ensure the Hot/Cold bar is full and aesthetically pleasing at all times.
- Re-heat soups and hot foods to proper temperature in accord with health regulations.
- Maintain proper cooling, storage, and labeling procedures.
- Assist with dishes and cleaning tasks, following proper procedures.
- Work cooperatively and communicate effectively with the Prepared Foods Production crew to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist customers with product questions in a prompt, and courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessary.
- Work as part of a team to develop a hospitable department space that feels welcoming to all.
- Be knowledgeable about all Prepared Foods dishes and products.
- Ensure that unsaleable items are properly disposed of. Keep accurate shrinkage records.
- Ensure that deli cases, hot/cold bar surfaces, kitchen and storage areas are clean, orderly, and meet health standards.
- Remove trash promptly; sweep floor as needed.
- Participate in inventory counts.
- Ensure maintenance of department equipment and notify manager if equipment breaks.
- Follow GreenStar’s safety rules.
- Assist other employees in safety needs.
- Report unsafe equipment and conditions.
- Participate in safety training programs.
- Perform other tasks as assigned to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Attend Human Resources trainings, all-staff meetings, department meetings, and OBM Huddles to stay informed.
- Read GreenStar publications to stay informed.
- Respect and comply with storewide personnel policies.
- Adhere to scheduled shifts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
