About The Position

The Host at Birdie G’s, Fairmont Century Plaza, is the first point of contact for arriving guests and the final point of contact when they leave. The role sets the tone for each visit, helps keep the dining room flowing smoothly, and makes guests feel welcome. Reporting to the Restaurant Management team, the Host welcomes and escorts guests, manages reservations and seating, communicates guest needs to the team and leadership, supports table clearing and resetting, and represents Birdie G’s and the Fairmont brand. The restaurant is an all-day California brasserie blending American comfort food, Jewish deli traditions, and California-grown ingredients.

Requirements

• Previous customer service experience preferred; restaurant or hospitality experience is a plus.
• A calm, warm manner, including during busy service.
• Excellent communication skills and strong organization.
• Clear spoken English and the ability to read and write English.
• Good judgment and the ability to listen attentively to guests, colleagues, and managers.
• Ability to stand and move around the restaurant for up to 8 hours per shift.
• California Food Handler Card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification, or ability to obtain them within 30 days of hire.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Proof of current eligibility to be employed in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Welcome arriving guests warmly, escort them to their tables, and thank departing guests.
• Answer the phone with polish and take, record, and confirm reservations accurately.
• Tailor guest experiences to special occasions, dietary needs, and seating preferences.
• Manage seating to create a smooth, well-paced service for guests and the team.
• Communicate guest needs clearly with servers, assistants, lead servers, and managers.
• Connect guests with leadership and ensure guest concerns reach the appropriate person.
• Clear, set, and reset tables and help keep the restaurant spotless.
• Know the Birdie G’s menu and the hotel’s outlets, amenities, and services.
• Share local recommendations and the history of Century Plaza with guests.
• Represent Birdie G’s, the hotel, and the Fairmont brand with pride and professionalism.
