About The Position

A Host’s duties primarily focus on ensuring the guests have a positive experience as soon as they enter the restaurant. Hosts are responsible for welcoming customers to a food service environment and ensuring that they are seated and receive attentive service. Their duties include maintaining a waitlist of patrons during busy meal service, passing out menus and accepting phone calls. This role requires delivering to-go food and beverage orders, keeping work areas clean and organized, re-stocking service stands, and addressing complaints promptly and courteously. The Host also greets customers, helps with reservations, guides guests to their tables, provides accurate wait time estimates, and answers initial questions. Additionally, they optimize seating to ensure an even workload for wait staff and answer phones to schedule reservations. The position also involves ensuring compliance with operational and service standards, maintaining a neat and orderly host area, contributing to service improvements, participating in training, and complying with health, safety, and hygiene standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 16 years of age.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented with ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
  • A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with bussers, cooks, and other staff.
  • Maintain professional presentation (must adhere to company and department dress code)
  • Ability to think clearly in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Outstanding guest service skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering to-go food and beverage orders to guests.
  • Keeping all work areas clean & organized, re-stocking service stands.
  • Addresses complaints promptly in a courteous manner and notifies leadership of any issues.
  • Greeting customers as they walk into the restaurant.
  • Helping guests with reservations and guiding them to their table
  • Giving guests accurate wait time estimates and seating them in the waiting area
  • Providing customers with menus and answering any initial questions they may have.
  • Optimizing seating at different tables to ensure even workload for wait staff.
  • Answering phones and scheduling reservations with large parties
  • Provides prompt and courteous service and is cordial to all team members and guests.
  • Completes all other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of operation and standards of service at all times throughout the hotel.
  • Ensure that host areas are maintained in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • Contribute regularly with service improvements to maintain and improve performance.
  • Participate and contribute to the ongoing training requirements.
  • Comply with all health, safety, and hygiene standards and policies.
