About The Position

The Host is responsible for welcoming and greeting guests enthusiastically with a warm friendly smile, making them feel comfortable, and ensuring they have a positive and memorable experience. This role involves informing guests about specials and menu changes, answering questions about food and beverages, and promoting future events and promotions. The Host also performs side work, maintains clean service areas, and assists fellow servers as needed. Additionally, the Host is expected to comply with grooming and dress code policies, and report any unsatisfactory customer experiences to the restaurant manager.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Ability to learn Point of Sale system and basic guest service standards.
• Basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions.
• Possess basic math skills.
• Ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
• Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food frequently weighing up to 20 to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Make all guests feel comfortable and ensure they are personally taken care of.
• Comply with standard grooming and dress code policies.
• Develop personal relationships with guests and ensure a positive and memorable experience.
• Polish and prepare silverware used in service.
• Check tables for clean and proper set up before seating guests.
• Conform to acceptable attendance and punctuality standards.
• Report all unsatisfactory customer experiences to the restaurant manager.
• Inform guests of specials and menu changes.
• Learn the menu and all of its items to make genuine recommendations.
• Answer questions about food, beverages, and other restaurant functions and services.
• Inform guests about future events and promotions and encourage attendance.
• Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required.
• Maintain clean service areas.
• Be ready and willing to assist fellow servers as situations arise.
• Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.
• Be available to fill in as needed to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant.
