About The Position

Envision Unlimited is a full-spectrum care organization founded in Chicago in 1948. It serves people with disabilities across the lifespan and offers services including community living, day programs, behavioral health, employment programs, family respite, and foster care. The Host Respite Worker evaluates and trains residents in daily living and social skills to help them achieve and maintain their highest level of functioning and independent community living.

The role supports residents with grooming, transportation, medication, meals, dietary needs, and social activities. It also provides in-home care while caregivers take vacation and responds to medical or behavioral emergencies using appropriate health and safety procedures. The position requires flexible availability on weekdays and weekends.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; proof is required before the start date.
• Only American School of Correspondence is accepted for candidates who attended correspondence school.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must pass a full criminal background check.
• Must be able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assist residents with personal grooming and appearance as needed.
• Transport and accompany residents to appointments, services, and day program sites as needed.
• Supervise and assist residents with taking medication in accordance with program guidelines.
• Provide in-home care for individuals while caregivers take vacation days.
• Assist individuals with transportation to social activities, meetings, and appointments.
• Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies using appropriate health and safety, aggression management, first aid, CPR, and other procedures.
• Plan menus and assist with meal preparation as required.
• Monitor and observe residents with special dietary needs.
• Respect the diversity of clients, coworkers, and stakeholders and refrain from discrimination or harassment.
• Help create and maintain a welcoming and supportive work environment.
