About The Position

The Host Person is responsible for presenting clean menus, maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of the host stand, and providing guests with accurate information about hotel and casino services. This role involves managing guest wait times, answering calls, assisting with reservations, overseeing side work, addressing guest concerns, ensuring smooth shift transitions, confirming table readiness, and coordinating staff breaks. The position requires providing courteous and friendly service to all guests and team members.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage guest flow and seating efficiently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in basic math for handling guest counts and reservations
  • Professional, confident, and pleasant demeanor with a well-groomed appearance in accordance with company standards
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with guests, team members, and other departments
  • Thorough understanding of company and departmental policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to apply common sense and sound judgment to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions
  • Strong problem-solving skills in standardized situations involving multiple variables
  • Capable of making quick decisions under pressure while maintaining guest satisfaction and safety
  • Able to assess situations and respond appropriately to guest needs, operational challenges, or unexpected events

  • Visual acuity required, including close vision, color differentiation, and peripheral awareness
  • Ability to lift and move: Up to 10 lbs regularly, Up to 30 lbs frequently, Up to 50 lbs occasionally (with assistance or equipment as needed)
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, twist, stoop, crouch, kneel, and maintain balance in various work environments, including confined or crowded spaces
  • May be required to navigate stairs, ramps, and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently in a dynamic and guest-facing setting

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant environment preferred
  • Experience with MMS and MICROS systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Present clean, organized menus to guests and inspect all menus regularly, replacing any that are worn or damaged
  • Maintain the professional appearance and cleanliness of the host stand and surrounding areas
  • Provide guests with accurate information regarding hotel and casino services, including dining options and hours of operation
  • Monitor guest wait times and identify large parties to ensure efficient seating and service
  • Answer incoming calls at the host stand and assist with reservations or inquiries
  • Oversee and support the completion of side work by team members
  • Address initial guest concerns or complaints professionally and promptly notify the manager on duty of any issues
  • Ensure smooth shift transitions by remaining on duty until properly relieved and communicating relevant information to incoming staff
  • Confirm that tables are properly set and ready for service at the beginning of each shift
  • Assist the manager with coordinating staff breaks as needed
  • Provide courteous and friendly service to all guests and team members
