Host or Hostess
About The Position
The Host or Hostess welcomes and seats residents promptly and warmly, following Senior Lifestyle Corporation standards. The role supports dining-room operations by assisting wait staff and bussers, completing assigned side work, and helping with special events. It also involves attending training, in-service seminars, and pre-shift meetings; reporting resident concerns to the Dining Services Manager; and following company policies and procedures. The Host or Hostess helps maintain a safe working environment, protects equipment, and maintains a positive, professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, and coworkers. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Previous food service experience.
- Obtain or hold any locally, state, or county-required food handling or sanitation licenses and certificates.
- English proficiency sufficient to perform job duties, communicate with supervisors and coworkers, and respond to emergency situations.
- Entry-level proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
- Ability to solve practical problems and handle situations with limited standardization.
- Ability to handle multiple projects.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor toward customers and coworkers.
- Less than high school education; or up to one month of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet and seat residents promptly and warmly according to Senior Lifestyle Corporation standards.
- Assist wait staff and bussers with serving, bussing, and resetting tables.
- Immediately report resident concerns to the Dining Services Manager.
- Complete assigned side work.
- Attend training, in-service seminars, and pre-shift meetings.
- Assist with special events.
- Perform duties according to Senior Lifestyle Corporation standards and policies.
- Help maintain a safe working environment by preventing accidents, preserving equipment, and following safe work practices.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, and coworkers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
