About The Position

The Host / Hostess is responsible for creating a welcoming and elevated first impression for guests while ensuring the prompt recognition, seating, and flow of all restaurant guests throughout their dining experience. This role supports the overall food & beverage operation by coordinating reservations, managing seating arrangements, assisting service teams, and delivering attentive, courteous, and personalized hospitality aligned with Viceroy standards. Hosts / Hostesses may support multiple food & beverage outlets throughout the resort based on operational needs and business demands.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and acknowledge guests promptly with a warm, professional, and service-oriented demeanor.
  • Manage reservations, waitlists, table assignments, and seating flow to ensure an efficient and elevated guest experience.
  • Escort guests to tables and provide menus while communicating relevant outlet information, specials, and operational details.
  • Maintain awareness of restaurant reservations, seating availability, guest preferences, and service flow throughout the shift.
  • Assist servers, bartenders, cashiers, and leadership teams in supporting seamless outlet operations and guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards at the host stand, entry areas, and surrounding guest-facing spaces.
  • Ensure menus are clean, current, and presentation-ready at all times.
  • Assist with guest inquiries, phone calls, reservations, and resort information in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
  • Support cashiering and payment processing procedures as operationally necessary.
  • Assist with opening, closing, side work, and operational checklists as assigned.
  • Maintain knowledge of menus, outlet offerings, promotions, and resort amenities.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, safety, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of local and state liquor laws and support responsible alcohol service practices.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns and service requests.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and departmental lineups.
  • Maintain regular attendance, punctuality, professional appearance, and grooming standards.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction through professionalism, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
