About The Position

Welcomes guests, seats them at tables, and helps ensure quality service. This role is responsible for creating a positive first and last impression for customers, adhering to service standards, and maintaining menu information. The Host/Hostess will also handle phone calls, answer customer questions, and respond to complaints professionally. They must be aware of daily specials and the a la carte menu, and report any customer issues or intoxication to a supervisor. Additionally, this role involves understanding and complying with company policies, gaming regulations, and safety procedures, while maintaining a professional appearance and attitude.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be able to obtain a gaming license in accordance to the regulations established by the Sac & Fox Gaming Commission.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, with other members of the staff and guests.
  • Must have good reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Must be able to count money and make change correctly.
  • Basic computer or point of sale system skills required.
  • Must be able to read and understand written policies, procedures, etc.
  • Must possess normal hearing and vision abilities.
  • Must be reliable, courteous and friendly and be able to work directly with the general public.
  • Must be flexible with shift and days off.
  • Must be able to handle busy and stressful situations.
  • Must be able to meet all non-supervisory training and education requirements.
  • Must wear tread safety shoes.
  • Follow company and departmental appearance standards (wear approved uniform; no extreme hairstyles or jewelry; clean hands, fingernails and hair; No offensive or excessive tattoos visible to guests; no chewing gum or smoking cigarettes while working; no nail polish or overpowering colognes; etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous host/hostess experience preferred.
  • Members of the Meskwaki Nation and other Native American Tribes who are qualified applicants are encouraged to apply and will be given preference in accordance to established procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Put forth a good first and last impression and welcome customers with a warm friendly smile and sincere greeting. Make every effort to insure absolute customer satisfaction.
  • Adhere to Host/Hostess Service Standards.
  • Maintain proper information on dining room menu board. Assume responsibility for knowledge of daily specials and a la carte menu.
  • Answer the phone in a professional manner, takes and/or relays messages.
  • Answer customer questions concerning F&B venues, casino promotions, etc.
  • Respond to customer complaints in a professional manner. Notify shift supervisor of any/all complaints.
  • Report to shift supervisor immediately any customer that appears intoxicated.
  • Report 100% of tips retained per departmental policy.
  • Display flexibility needed to meet dining room work schedule demands.
  • Assume responsibility for knowledge of all memos & other information issued by the Company and F&B Department.
  • Communicates and networks effectively with staff, other departments, and outside representatives in order to maintain a productive and effective department operation.
  • Safeguard and account for the assets of the owners.
  • Comply with policies and procedures required by the department, the company, the Meskwaki Gaming Commission, and the National Indian Gaming Commission.
  • Monitor the casino environment and follow established safety procedures to provide for the safety of guests and co-workers.
  • Work respectfully and effectively as part of the company team to ensure guest satisfaction, asset protection, and co-worker respect.
  • Report to work on time and as required in professional attire, display a high level of personal cleanliness and follow personal appearance standards.
  • Comply with all departmental safety regulations using safety equipment as required.
  • Deter intoxication by mourning number of alcoholic beverages served and visible signs of intoxication. Comply with the F&B Department Alcoholic Beverages Policies and Procedures.
  • Assume responsibility for knowledge of all information in restaurant's Memo Book.
  • Attend all required meetings and training sessions.
  • Assist wait staff as needed.
  • Contribute to completion of shift side work tasks.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
