About The Position

Marriott Syracuse Downtown seeks a part-time Host/Hostess to greet and escort guests to tables in the restaurant, maintaining a courteous and efficient operation of the dining room to ensure guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess a self-starting personality with an even disposition, maintain a professional appearance and manner, communicate well with guests, be willing to assist co-workers, and be a team player. The role requires the ability to comprehend guest requests and menu items, move through crowded rooms to seat guests, and effectively handle customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. Every associate is expected to be a guest relations ambassador.

Requirements

• Experience working in a restaurant setting highly preferred
• Flexible availability for morning and/or afternoon shift required
• Ability to comprehend guest requests, memos, reservations, promotional materials, event orders and similar written materials.
• Ability to learn, remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
• Ability to move through a crowded room to seat guests.
• Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner.
• Understand and believe that every Crescent associate is a guest relations ambassador, every working minute of every day.

Responsibilities

• Meet and greet guests as they arrive, offer choice of seating, then escort them to their table and present menu.
• Receive records and make any necessary arrangements for reservations and special functions in the restaurant.
• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
