About The Position

The Westin Jackson is seeking a Host/Hostess to join their Food & Beverage Department team. This role involves greeting and escorting guests to tables, ensuring a courteous and efficient operation of the dining room to achieve guest satisfaction. The hotel is located in downtown Jackson, MS, near various attractions and the convention complex. • Must adhere to hotel security policies and procedures, particularly regarding key controls, lifting heavy objects, using chemicals, and effectively reporting safety hazards and safety concerns.
• Must meet and strive to exceed hotel standards for work procedures, dress, grooming, punctuality and attendance.
• Must be adaptable to change in your work area and in hotel procedures with a willingness to learn new skills and/or improve existing ones.
• Ability to solve routine problems that occur on the job and ask for help whenever you are not sure how to do something.

Responsibilities

• Greeting and escorting guests to tables in the restaurant.
• Offering guests a choice of seating.
• Presenting menus to guests.
• Maintaining a courteous and efficient operation of the dining room to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Receiving, recording, and making necessary arrangements for reservations and special functions in the restaurant.
• Maintaining proper set-up of the dining room.
• Reading, maintaining, and making daily entries in the logbook to coordinate communication between shifts and management.
• Complying with attendance rules and being available to work on a regular basis.
• Performing any other job-related duties as assigned.
