About The Position

The Host/Hostess is responsible for creating a welcoming environment for guests as they enter the restaurant. This role involves greeting and seating guests, managing reservations, and coordinating with the restaurant staff to ensure efficient service. The Host/Hostess plays a key role in setting the tone for a positive dining experience.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality setting, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with reservation and seating systems is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Good physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly and courteously as they arrive.
  • Provide guests with accurate wait time estimates and manage the waitlist.
  • Escort guests to their assigned tables and provide menus.
  • Inform guests of the restaurant's services, offerings, and any special promotions.
  • Manage reservations and seating arrangements using the restaurant's reservation system.
  • Coordinate with the restaurant staff to accommodate special seating requests.
  • Monitor dining room activity and maintain an efficient seating flow.
  • Address guest inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure that guests are comfortable while waiting and provide updates on table availability.
  • Offer assistance to guests with special needs or requests.
  • Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the front-of-house area.
  • Support servers and bussers by providing extra hands as needed during peak times.
  • Answer phone calls and handle guest inquiries and reservations.
  • Maintain the host/hostess stand and area, ensuring it is organized and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as required.
