The Host/Hostess is responsible for graciously greeting and welcoming guests and customers, ensuring all related activities contribute to the highest quality dining experience. This role minimizes confusion and disorder in welcoming, seating, and serving guests, enforces chronological reception, and ensures dining areas are properly arranged and cleaned. The Host/Hostess will also revisit tables to ensure appropriate service levels, coordinate reservations, provide information about the property and local area, and ensure wait staff professionalism. They must project a positive and friendly attitude, assist guests with door opening, record names for waiting lists, call out parties when tables are available, provide estimated wait times, accommodate special seating requests, and seat guests based on preferences and service station balance. Upon seating, they offer menus, inform guests of their server's name, and inspect tables for proper presentation. They relay messages as needed and thank guests upon departure, inviting them to return. Exceptional patience and public relations skills are essential. Additional duties may be assigned by management.
