About The Position

The Host/Hostess will provide and ensure a positive first impression to the Club’s members and guests while dining by delivering an enthusiastic, courteous, and friendly disposition and warm consistent greeting. Although the primary responsibility is greeting and seating members and their guests according to pre-assigned tables, this position will handle other responsibilities including answering the telephone.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of customer service experience
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend spreadsheets, diagrams, schedules, etc.
  • Must have the ability to understand, interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and scheduled form.
  • Must be able to work a variable schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and move up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Frequent walking, reaching, bending, turning, squatting, stooping, and stretching
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods
  • Normal vision and hearing ranges required

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for a minimum of 2 years in a private club, hotel, or resort setting.
  • Knowledge of NorthStar POS system preferred
  • CPR/AED Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Welcome all members and guests entering the club for dining and answer incoming calls during the shift. Greets members by name with a consistent, sincere welcome, is attentive to their needs, and continually strives for perfection.
  • Accept takeout orders from members when called into the Club. Places orders into the Point-of-Sale System and ensures that the order is correct prior to being sent it out to be picked up.
  • Escorts members and guests to their assigned tables. Pull out chairs for all ladies and unfolds napkins and places in the laps for all diners. Distributes menus and presents the wine list to the host.
  • Assists with creating a daily seating chart complete with server assignments and all reserved tables.
  • Ensure that the restaurant and its tables are set up daily according to the reservation list.
  • Reviews the reservation list and assists with verification against table configurations. Updates the reservation list as needed and communicates any changes or discrepancies to the Manager on Duty.
  • Advises Manager on Duty of any special requests/needs for seating, food or beverage or any special notes made in the reservation system.
  • Keeps the Dining Room, entry areas and host station clean, neat, and organized. Ensures all equipment required is available and in working order and there is an adequate supply of guest amenities at the host stand.
  • Manages and maintains an accurate waiting list when needed.
  • Collects menus, removes menus, and fills menu covers for each shift.
  • Attend pre-shift meetings and any required training for the day to obtain knowledge of menu item preparation, specials, descriptions, and presentation.
  • Receives and relays members concerns with food, beverage, or service with the Manager on Duty.
  • Notifies manager of any dress code discrepancies and assists with enforcement.
  • Speaks clearly and articulately and develops a professional friendly rapport with the members and guests.
  • Provides a first-class operation with a friendly, courteous, and professional attitude to members and guests and fellow staff members.
  • Performs any additional tasks or special assignments as needed.
