About The Position

First Ascent Climbing & Fitness is seeking proactive, friendly, and enthusiastic individuals to join their Hospitality Staff team. This role is crucial in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for both new and regular members and guests. The Hospitality Staff member will be responsible for delivering an excellent experience, assisting climbers, maintaining the facility, and collaborating with the team. The position offers opportunities for growth within the company.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of customer service experience
  • High school diploma/general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Friendly, adaptable, and team-oriented approach
  • Enthusiasm for climbing, fitness, and community-building
  • Comfort using computer systems and standard office software

Responsibilities

  • Greet and engage members and guests, providing friendly and attentive service.
  • Guide first-time guests through necessary procedures like waivers, visit options, orientations, gear setup, and safety checks.
  • Understand guest goals and recommend suitable memberships, classes, programs, events, or other opportunities to foster their climbing journey and community connection.
  • Process transactions for passes, memberships, and retail items accurately using the CRM system.
  • Answer inquiries regarding pricing, programs, policies, and climbing equipment, ensuring accurate information is provided.
  • Review and respond to internal communications (Slack, email, leader updates) to stay informed.
  • Address member/guest concerns or complaints with empathy, aiming for immediate resolution or escalating to a gym leader when necessary.
  • Enforce gym policies with a friendly yet firm demeanor.
  • Follow incident response procedures, utilizing calm communication and de-escalation techniques, completing accurate reports, and notifying leaders promptly.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming customer-facing areas.
  • Assist with other tasks as needed to ensure smooth facility operation.
  • Collaborate with teammates, support new staff, and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Maintain curiosity, seek feedback for growth, and help enhance the member and guest experience.
  • Adapt to evolving responsibilities as the company refines its services.
