This position is for a Hospitalist (.6 FTE) at Children's National Medical Center. The role involves providing clinical services, overseeing the medical care team, managing direct patient care, and participating in on-call services. The Hospitalist will contribute to family-centered care, communicate professionally with patients and families, and refer patients to specialists and ancillary services as needed. The position also requires adherence to the chain of command and escalation policies, timely and respectful communication with team members and external providers, and clear communication of expectations to trainees, encouraging their questions. The role also encompasses contributing to public policy for pediatric health, teaching patients and families, participating in health promotion programs, conducting research, publishing findings, seeking grant funding, and participating in educational programs and committees. Quality and compliance are paramount, requiring adherence to policies, JCAHO standards, and timely clinical documentation. The Hospitalist will identify and recommend improvements for patient services, participate in policy development, and evaluate patient care according to protocols. Peer evaluation and error reporting are also key components. The role emphasizes customer service, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, cost management, and safety awareness, including validating information and resolving uncertainty.
