About The Position

University Medical Center New Orleans (UMC), the academic medical center for the Gulf South and a member of LCMC Health, is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Hospitalist Physician to join our growing inpatient medicine team. This is an outstanding opportunity to practice hospital medicine in a dynamic, academically focused environment that serves as a major referral center for Louisiana and the surrounding region. As a Hospitalist at UMC, you will care for a diverse and medically complex patient population while collaborating with specialists, residents, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary care teams dedicated to delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

Requirements

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
Eligible for unrestricted Louisiana medical licensure
Current DEA registration or ability to obtain
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care for hospitalized adult patients
Perform admissions, daily rounding, consultations, and discharge planning
Collaborate with specialists and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
Lead and participate in patient-centered care planning to optimize outcomes and patient experience
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation within the electronic medical record
Supervise and educate residents and medical students, as appropriate
Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and performance initiatives
Support the mission of advancing healthcare, education, and community service
