About The Position

A leading medical institution is seeking a Hospital Unit Service Coordinator to support daily operations within a fast-paced outpatient surgical unit by coordinating communication, scheduling, patient flow, and administrative activities, and serving as a central point of contact for patients, families, physicians, and clinical staff while ensuring efficient unit operations and delivering exceptional customer service in a collaborative healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Experience as a hospital unit clerk, unit coordinator, medical receptionist, or in a related healthcare administrative role; surgical specialty experience is preferred.
  • Experience working in a hospital, outpatient surgery center, operating room, or other fast-paced clinical environment with knowledge of medical scheduling and patient flow coordination.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency with data entry, Microsoft Office applications, electronic scheduling systems, and standard office equipment, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate front desk and unit operations by answering telephones and intercoms, greeting patients, families, visitors, and staff, relaying information, directing individuals to appropriate locations, and supporting effective communication across departments.
  • Support surgical unit workflow by scheduling cases, communicating operating room schedule changes, cancellations, and delays, making phone calls and paging personnel as directed, and assisting the charge nurse with daily operational needs.
  • Perform administrative and clerical duties, including data entry, maintaining organized records, ordering office supplies, assigning lockers, distributing visitor badges, and ensuring the unit workstation remains organized and functional.
  • Prioritize requests from clinical staff, respond to urgent situations, coordinate emergency communications, and assist with maintaining efficient patient flow throughout the outpatient surgery center.
  • Provide outstanding customer service while fostering positive working relationships with patients, families, physicians, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams, with flexibility to support multiple medical center locations as needed.
