About The Position
Performs necessary functions to support various areas within the hospital business office. Primary duties include support for patient registration and pre-registration.
Requirements
- Must possess good oral and written skills
- Must be able to communicate with hospital contacts both on the telephone and directly
- Effectively communicate with all age groups, populations, and individuals within the hospital
- Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments and work independently with minimal supervision

- Attains initial and mandatory training as defined by hospital guidelines
Responsibilities
- Admit and register patients on day of procedures
- Handle general inquiries
- Ensure all papers are properly filled out and input into system
- Maintain daily schedules
- Enter and verify that all patient demographics and billing information correctly entered/verified at time of check in
- Process encounters daily for and balance to co-payments
- Collect balances due at time of check in
- Direct patients to relevant areas of building
- Answer phones
- Obtain signed statements
- Record payments
- Perform tours
- Keep admission desk clean and organized
- Perform insurance data entry
- Contact nurses and doctors about surgeries and meetings
- Demonstrates safe work habits through compliance with work-related policies and procedures
- Adheres to policies, procedures, all safety plans, and all standards imposed by regulatory organizations
- Demonstrates cost consciousness through efficient use of time, materials, staff, equipment, supplies and available resources
- Consistently utilizes spare-time to benefit unit, patients, and co-workers
- Provides directions to areas within organization
- Establishes and maintains a good rapport and cooperative relationship with medical staff, co-workers, supervisors and others
