About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Hospital Reference Test Clerk - BayCare to join our team in Clearwater, Florida. This role involves preparing laboratory specimens for various analyses and testing, researching and resolving customer and specimen problems, sending test requests to the proper location, releasing test results, and assisting clients with specimen-related inquiries. The position also includes processing specimens for external facilities, providing laboratory support, performing sample sorting, racking, and retrieving, and preparing record logs. A clean and safe work environment must be maintained.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Comfortability with handling biological specimens
• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

• 3 months or more of specimen processing experience
• 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for various analysis and testing
• Research, troubleshoot and resolve customer and specimen problems
• Send test requests to proper location and release test results
• Assist clients with any specimen related requests or inquiries
• Process specimens to be sent out to additional facilities
• Provide support to various areas of the laboratory
• Perform sample sorting, racking and retrieving
• Prepare record logs in a timely and efficient manner
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
