About The Position

Join the Inpatient Pharmacy team at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, as a Hospital Pharmacist in a fast-paced acute care setting. The pharmacist partners with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support safe and effective medication therapy, optimize patient outcomes, and advance medication safety through clinical pharmacy practice. The role supports hospital pharmacy operations and medication management.

This is a full-time position with variable 8-hour shifts, rotating between 7:00 AM–3:30 PM and 1:00 PM–9:30 PM. Weekend coverage is required every fourth weekend.

Requirements

• Current state Registered Pharmacist License.
• B.S. degree in Pharmacy required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in hospital pharmacy operations preferred.
• Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred.
• BLS certification preferred.
• ACLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review, verify, and accurately dispense medications for hospitalized patients.
• Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness, safety, interactions, dosing, and therapeutic outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams on medication therapy management.
• Monitor patient medication regimens and recommend clinical interventions when appropriate.
• Participate in antimicrobial stewardship, medication reconciliation, and patient safety initiatives.
• Provide drug information and clinical consultation to healthcare team members.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state requirements, Joint Commission standards, and hospital regulations.
• Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support staff.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
