About The Position

The Hospital Operations Manager (HOM) is a strategic, hands-on operational leader responsible for developing and coaching departmental leaders, driving operational excellence and applying strong financial acumen to drive operational and business performance. The HOM works horizontally across clinical and operational leadership to drive collaboration, accountability, and execution of hospital priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, healthcare, veterinary medicine, or a related environment.
  • Demonstrated financial management experience, including responsibility for departmental budgets, labor management, expense control, and financial performance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing leaders and working cross-functionally across operational and clinical teams.
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a veterinary or healthcare hospital setting.
  • Experience utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to improve workflows, efficiency, and operational performance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor labor utilization and staffing trends across departments, ensuring appropriate staffing based on operational and patient-care needs, evaluating business justification for staffing adjustments, and new hire requests.
  • Lead financial operations in assigned departments, including budget monitoring, expense controls, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities; recommend mitigation strategies and efficiency improvements.
  • Directly manage and support departmental leaders and team members with primary accountability for strengthening leadership effectiveness.
  • Partner with departmental leaders to align goals, monitor performance, and execute improvements.
  • Partner closely with clinical and medical leadership to identify and address opportunities across the client and patient journey, ensuring operational and clinical workflows support a coordinated and consistent experience.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop departmental leaders, strengthening their ability to independently lead their teams while establishing clear expectations, accountability, and succession plans.
  • Act as the connective thread across departments, ensuring collaboration and accountability by modeling visibility and accessibility, working alongside leaders and frontline staff to understand day-to-day challenges.
  • Champion a consistent, hospital-wide approach to the client and patient experience by aligning communication, service standards, workflows, and improvement efforts across clinical and operational functions.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to senior, clinical, and operational leadership, translating organizational priorities into actionable plans and measurable results.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to address operational challenges, remove barriers, improve workflows, and drive accountability across departments.
  • Lead hospital-wide initiatives and special projects, ensuring clear ownership, effective execution, and sustained results.
