About The Position

Advocate Health invites Advanced Practice Providers (NP or PA) to discover all that we can do when we bring healing hearts, inquisitive minds, and progressive visionaries together on our Hospital Medicine team at Carolinas Medical Center (CMC Main) in Charlotte, North Carolina. Carolinas Hospitalists Group is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join our inpatient Hospital Medicine team at CMC Main, Advocate Health’s flagship academic medical center. This is a full-time inpatient position with a 7 days on / 7 days off schedule, working from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM. The role is 100% inpatient adult medicine, with responsibilities including admissions and rounding. No call is required, but shifts may include cross-cover responsibilities. The position offers a collaborative, team-based approach alongside Hospital Medicine physicians and APPs, working within a large academic and tertiary-care environment. Teaching opportunities are available with APP students and fellows. The role is eligible for an annual quality/performance incentive bonus, and a CME allowance is provided annually. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (for NP candidates)
  • Master’s Degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice required (for NP candidates)
  • Acute Care certification required (ACNP or AGACNP preferred) (for NP candidates)
  • Current North Carolina NP/APRN and RN licensure required (for NP candidates)
  • DEA license and prescriptive authority required (for NP candidates)
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required and must remain valid at least 90 days beyond start date (for NP candidates)
  • National board certification required (for NP candidates)
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program (for PA candidates)
  • Master’s Degree preferred (for PA candidates)
  • NCCPA certification required/preferred (for PA candidates)
  • CAQ certification preferred (for PA candidates)
  • Current North Carolina PA licensure required (for PA candidates)
  • DEA license and prescriptive authority required (for PA candidates)
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required and must remain valid at least 90 days beyond start date (for PA candidates)
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling
  • Ability to lift and support up to 35 pounds when handling patients, supplies, or equipment
  • Ability to work effectively in stressful and fast-paced clinical situations

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations
  • Develop and implement treatment and management plans
  • Order, interpret, and manage laboratory and radiology studies
  • Document patient encounters, assessments, and plans of care in the medical record
  • Write prescriptions and administer medications as appropriate
  • Perform procedures within scope of practice, if applicable
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, specialists, and ancillary teams
  • Participate in departmental meetings, quality initiatives, and policy development
  • Serve as an advocate for the patient population served
