This is a one-year limited-term fellowship program for a new graduate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to develop expertise in the recognition, evaluation, acute management, and complex care of the hospitalized child. The training includes 6 months of clinical experience divided between Hospital-based medicine, Pediatric surgery, Oncology, and Critical care. At the end of 6 months, the trainee would be designated to a primary area based on current or expected opening and would continue to practice in that area for the following 6 months. Additional required training includes weekly didactic sessions, monthly SIM, and quarterly transition into practice seminars. The APP works within multidisciplinary clinical team(s) to obtain further knowledge and clinical experiences, learning evidence-based practice and professional activities to promote the advancement of the Advanced Practice at Lurie Children’s. The role is unique to the Advanced Practice Nurses in accordance with individual credentialing and privileging through the Medical Staff Office. There is no guarantee of a permanent position upon completion of the fellowship.
