About The Position

Under limited supervision, the Distribution Tech acquires the technical knowledge to understand medical terminology and interact with nurses and physicians regarding product needs and substitutes for back orders. They perform essential computer skills for managing pick tickets, pulling and issuing supplies, processing supply requisitions, adjusting inventories, conducting cycle counts, updating nursing stock par forms, and ensuring inventory accuracy. The role requires using proper lifting techniques for safe handling of medical supplies. The position involves working independently on weekends, cross-training for loading dock/receiving and linen distribution to cover absences, and maintaining good phone etiquette. The role also emphasizes exhibiting F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).

Requirements

  • Must acquire the technical knowledge necessary to understand medical terminology.
  • Must be able to interact with nurses and physicians about product needs and substitutes when back orders arise.
  • Perform all required computer skills necessary to enter pick tickets, pull supplies, issue supplies, pull supply requisitions request from department generated reports, adjust inventories when discrepancies exist, do cycle counts, update nursing stock par forms.
  • Be detail oriented to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Use the proper lifting techniques when pulling and putting away medical supplies to ensure Associates safety.
  • Work independently on weekends.
  • Cross train to help out on Loading dock/receiving function and Linen distribution to cover vacations and sick days.
  • Good phone etiquette.
  • Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Precision and attention to detail is vital.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in stock and distribution procedures preferred.
  • Previous experience with personal computers would be a plus.
  • Previous experience with medical terminology would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Using computer-generated par level sheets, take inventory of each medical supply storage area and replenish inventory to par levels or adjust according to current patient census.
  • Receive incoming inventory medical supplies and ensure they are put away in proper inventory locations within the storeroom.
  • Receive requests for supplies, select stock from inventory, and distribute supplies to designated areas within the hospital and all clinics and off-site locations system-wide.
  • Be responsible for beeper pages one week a month.
  • Cross-train and rotate as needed for Laundry Transporter and Receiving Clerk.
  • Participate in weekly scheduled inventory cycle counts.
  • Remove outdated supplies from departments/storeroom for disposition.
  • Use computerized inventory management system to organize and maintain records pertinent to stock levels, create new Par Level Sheets for new departments or new areas, issue out requested supplies, and recommend modifications to inventory levels.
  • Rotate medical supplies in main inventory and user departments.
  • Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Provide good customer service in all staff interactions.
  • Ensure supplies are posted out correctly and accurately to maintain computer system accuracy.
  • Maintain departmental records, reports, and files as required.
  • Rotate holidays and weekends with other departmental Associates.
  • Keep the storeroom area clean and orderly at all times.
