About The Position

Scout Veterinary Urgent Care is seeking a Hospital Director to serve as the operational backbone for 2-3 of their locations in the Chicago area. This is a high-visibility, high-accountability role focused on people, process, and performance. The Hospital Director will be the primary operational partner to the clinical leadership team, ensuring smooth clinic operations, supporting the team, managing client concerns, and overseeing financial performance. This role requires regular physical presence in the clinics and will have a significant impact on day-to-day operations. The Hospital Director will report to the Chief Clinical Officer and collaborate with Lead DVMs, the Clinical Operations Director, HR, and Talent Acquisition.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in the veterinary industry
  • Prior experience in a lead, supervisor, or management role
  • High school diploma

  • Experience owning or managing against a P&L or operational budget
  • Background in customer service
  • Leadership certification

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily hospital operations across assigned locations, including staffing, scheduling, inventory, equipment, and budget.
  • Oversee the payroll line and report on monthly revenue and variance.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for non-medical client concerns and coach CSRs on front-of-house workflows.
  • Partner with medical leadership on client issues that cross clinical lines.
  • Provide regular performance feedback, accountability documentation, and support plans in partnership with HR.
  • Manage day-to-day culture initiatives to drive retention.
  • Manage schedules for all non-DVM clinical staff and handle coverage, attendance, and staffing gaps.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition on hiring and manage the orientation experience for new non-DVM team members.
  • Act as the operational liaison between clinic teams and leadership.
  • Run all-staff meetings and communicate changes.
  • Stay ahead of operational issues before they become problems.
  • Be physically present in the clinic regularly.
  • Manage the launch of new clinic locations.
  • Step in to cover front-of-house shifts when necessary.
