Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists (GCVS) was founded in 1988 and is currently one of the largest veterinary hospitals in the country. We are seeking a visionary and dynamic Hospital Director of Operations (HD) to lead one of our flagship veterinary hospitals with the insight and strategic mindset of a Chief Financial Officer. Responsible for overseeing a $60M+ P&L, this individual will drive operational excellence, inspire teams, and ensure long-term financial sustainability at a large, multi-specialty veterinary hospital. Requirements

  • Advanced degree is strongly preferred; MHA/MBA.
  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in large healthcare systems or multi-site big box retail.
  • Deep expertise in financial management, enterprise-level strategic planning, complex team leadership, and operational excellence; paired with a forward-thinking approach to innovation and organizational growth.

Responsibilities

  • Translate future possibilities into strategic financial and operational initiatives that support Ethos Veterinary Health’s long-term mission.
  • Serve as the hospital’s financial steward—overseeing budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cost-efficiency initiatives.
  • Act like an owner in ensuring regulatory compliance and upholding the highest standards of financial integrity.
  • Lead scenario planning to navigate ambiguity and ensure sustainable growth within the hospital.
  • Champion innovation by implementing scalable, cutting-edge operational strategies across the hospital.
  • Optimize workflow efficiency and drive data-informed performance improvements.
  • Accountable for driving exceptional client and patient experiences by leading management teams and staff to consistently deliver high-quality care and service, thereby enhancing organizational reputation and ensuring positive patient outcomes.
  • Continuously challenge the status quo to deliver breakthrough results in a complex hospital setting.
  • Build meaningful, cross-functional partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including hospital teams, referring veterinarians, support center colleagues, clients, and community leaders.
  • Model inclusive, transparent, and open communication across all levels of the hospital and broader organization.
