About The Position

UCI Health is a large academic health system in California, part of the University of California, Irvine. It includes multiple hospitals and a network of care centers. As Orange County's only academic health system, it features specialized centers for cancer, trauma, geriatrics, and burns. UCI Health serves a large population through patient care, research, and education. This position supports direct patient care providers by assisting with safe patient handling, including lifting, positioning, transferring, and transporting patients within the Medical Center. The role promotes a safe patient handling environment for both patients and healthcare providers. It also involves educating and training staff on proper lift techniques and equipment use. Responsibilities include tracking, cleaning, and performing basic repairs on equipment and supplies. Occasional dispatch duties may also be required.

Requirements

Understanding of basic medical terminology
Must be able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English
Minimum six months experience in a healthcare environment or training in a healthcare/emergency/rescue field
Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way
Current BLS certification upon hire (must be issued by the AHA)
Ability to float between Orange and Irvine campuses
Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

Nice To Haves

Emergency Medical Technician experience preferred

Responsibilities
