Hospice Volunteer
About The Position
Willowbrook Hospice is seeking Hospice Volunteers to provide companionship to hospice patients and caregivers. Volunteers are an essential part of the Willowbrook Hospice family, offering kindness and compassion to care for families during their greatest time of need. Some volunteers work directly with patients and families, while others assist in offices or offer professional skills like hairdressing or accounting. Volunteer opportunities are available throughout Northwest, North Central, and Northeast Georgia. The role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others, gain experience in areas of interest, and build upon existing skills.
Requirements
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use appropriate adaptive devices that will enable senses to function at a level required to meet the essential duties of the position.
- Must be able to work independently, make judgments based on assessments and data available and act accordingly.
- Must be flexible, innovative and possess good interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress and demonstrate emotional stability.
- Be able to tolerate exposure to elements including, but not limited to, odors, blood, body fluids and excrements, adverse environmental conditions and hazardous materials.
- Must have a current valid driver's license, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation.

- Certified pet therapy dogs.

Responsibilities
- Provide companionship to hospice patients and caregivers.
- Work directly with patients and families.
- Assist in hospice offices.
- Offer professional skills such as hairdressing or accounting.
- Participate in Patient-Visiting Volunteer programs.
- Engage in Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer programs, listening to veterans' stories.
- Participate in Pet Therapy Volunteer programs with certified therapy dogs.
- Contribute to Music Therapy Volunteer programs by performing music, assisting with programs, or providing support.
