About The Position

Alpha Omega Hospice is seeking dedicated volunteers to join their team and provide joy, comfort, and support to patients in the Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Crowley, Waxahachie, and Benbrook areas. The organization is mission-driven and patient-centered, focusing on end-of-life care with dignity, peace, and human connection. Volunteers are essential to extending care beyond medical needs.

Requirements

• A heart for serving others and an appreciation for the hospice mission.
• Demonstrates compassion, empathy, and deep respect for individuals and their unique journeys.
• Welcomes and values people of all backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs.
• Must be able to pass background check requirements.
• Certified and vaccinated pet (for Pet Therapy Volunteer role).

Nice To Haves

• No hospice experience is needed.

Responsibilities

• Support the care team by assisting in offices with tasks like data entry, assembling packets, and sending cards.
• Organize special memories for patients, such as sewing memory bears or blankets.
• Visit patients to offer companionship and provide caregivers with a break through activities like reading, hobbies, playing games, and listening.
• Share the love of a Certified Therapy Pet with patients to bring joy and emotional support.
• Use musical gifts to brighten patients' days and provide comfort to healthcare staff.
• Connect with fellow veterans, provide companionship, and participate in ceremonies to support and honor veteran patients.
