About The Position

Pacific Hospice and Palliative Care is seeking compassionate individuals to join their Hospice Volunteer Team. This role is for a caring person who wants to make a real difference in someone's life, without needing to be a healthcare professional or have prior hospice experience. Volunteers are needed in the San Antonio area and can contribute a few hours a week, a few hours a month, or help from home. The organization provides orientation, training, and ongoing support. Volunteers can share their hobbies, life experiences, listening skills, creativity, or simply their willingness to be present. Pacific Hospice and Palliative Care is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care that supports the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and their families.

Requirements

Must live in the San Antonio area.
Must complete required orientation and training prior to placement.
Must complete background checks.
Must complete health screenings.
Must meet applicable hospice compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

Visit, talk, read, play games, listen to music, or simply spend time with a patient.
Provide companionship while a caregiver takes a short break.
Make check-in and support calls from the comfort of your home.
Read stories, inspirational materials, poetry, or other meaningful selections.
Share music, crafts, art, or other talents.
Help with appropriate office and organizational projects.
Assist with approved hospice bereavement activities and follow-up.
Participate in activities designed to bring comfort, connection, and kindness to patients and families.
