Requirements

Minimum 16 years of age
Active State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
Listed on the state nurse aide registry in good standing
Current BLS certification
Understanding of hospice philosophy and end-of-life care
Strong communication, compassion, and reliability

Nice To Haves

Experience in hospice, home health, or long-term care
Comfort providing care to terminally ill patients

Responsibilities

Provide direct personal care to hospice patients in home settings
Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and oral care
Support patient safety and proper use of medical equipment
Prepare meals and assist with feeding and nutrition as needed
Take and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure) as directed
Monitor skin integrity and assist in preventing breakdown
Observe and report changes in patient condition to the RN Case Manager
Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and families
Offer respite care for caregivers
