About The Position
Sage Group HealthCare Staffing is seeking a Hospice Registered Nurse for a travel/contract position in Marshall, MI. This is a full-time, 13-week contract role accepting both local and traveler candidates. The position involves providing all aspects of hospice nursing to assigned patients in their homes, focusing on pain and symptom management, care planning, family support, crisis intervention, documentation, and emotional/spiritual care. The nurse will be responsible for assessing patients, administering medications, developing care plans in collaboration with the team, educating caregivers, responding to changes in patient condition, maintaining accurate records, and offering support to grieving relatives. The territory covers Calhoun County, with an expected patient load of 5-8 per day.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse: 2+ years - Required
- Hospice Nursing experience: Recent/Current 2+ years – Required
- RN License for State of MI - Required
- BLS Certifications from AHA - Required
- ASN or an equivalent – Required
Nice To Haves
- Travel experience - Highly preferred
- McKesson EMR experience - Highly preferred
- BSN or an equivalent – Highly preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide all aspects of hospice nursing to assigned patients in comfort of their homes.
- Pain & Symptom Management: Assess patients and administer medications/treatments to ensure comfort and alleviate suffering.
- Care Planning: Develop and update customized patient care plans in collaboration with physicians, social workers, and other team members.
- Family Support: Educate family caregivers on disease progression, what to expect, and medication management.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond quickly to sudden changes in a patient's condition to manage pain and provide crisis support.
- Documentation: Keep accurate, up-to-date patient medical records and facilitate communication between the care team.
- Emotional & Spiritual Care: Offer compassionate companionship, grief counseling, and post-mortem support to grieving relatives.
