About The Position

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the PCT I performs delegated patient care activities in a manner that is aligned with the age specific needs of the patient to ensure safe, accurate, and high-quality care. PCT I is an entry level position whose job functions include but are not limited to: providing for a patient's activities of daily living (ADLs); limited screening, collection, and recording of data and information; maintenance of unit supplies and equipment; patient transporting; answering call-lights, telephone, Vocera.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED - Preferred
  • Nursing student after having completed 1st semester of clinicals OR Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) License, OR , prior PCT experience in another acute care health care organization, OR after completion of Franciscan PCT In-training program- Required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Program (BCLS)- American Heart Association- Required

Responsibilities

  • Provides bathing, oral care, grooming (shaving), urinary catheter and ostomy care; assists with meals and feeding; assists with positioning, ambulation, and mobilization; assists with elimination and toileting.
  • Screening/Collection/Recording Data & Information: vital signs, intake & output, weights, specimen collection.
  • Restocks patient room and unit supplies, performs equipment checks.
  • Transports patients by wheelchair, cart, bed, bassinet.
  • Answers patient call-lights, telephones, Vocera.
  • Communicates and reports patient data and information to the RN.
