Our Hospice On-Call Registered Nurses enjoy some notable benefits: Salary range of $85,000–$90,000/year based on experience Eligible for performance and tenure-based bonuses 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratios where you make an impact Flexible assignments, autonomy, and work-life balance Online training, growth and ability to earn CEUs Paid Time Off and Company Paid Holidays Medical/Dental/Vision/Disability/Life insurance offered Participation in 401(k) after one year of employment Schedule: Monday–Friday: 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM Weekend: Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 8:00 AM Rotating: 7 days on, 7 days off Service Area: Newport News, Suffolk, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Deep Creek, and surrounding areas within a 50-mile radius of the Virginia Beach office As a Hospice On-Call RN, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do: Provide after-hours and weekend on-call nursing support to hospice patients and families Respond to urgent patient needs, including symptom management, changes in condition, and crisis intervention Complete initial and ongoing comprehensive assessments, including physical and psychosocial status Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards Develop, implement, and revise individualized plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary group (IDG), physician, and patient/family Coordinate care across the IDG and external providers to ensure continuity and quality of care Evaluate patient needs and facilitate appropriate levels of care (e.g., inpatient, respite, continuous care) when indicated Provide education and emotional support to patients and families regarding care plans, medications, and disease progression Ensure availability of medical equipment, medications, and necessary supplies Supervise and direct care provided by LPNs, hospice aides, and other support staff Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of all patient interactions and services provided Support quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives
