About The Position

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the hospice volunteer programs and services to meet the needs of the agency throughout the state. The position is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance for volunteer onboarding and continued training, documentation of volunteer visits in the EMR, and to ensure compliance with Medicare regulations. This position will also provide management and guidance to the Volunteer Coordinators in each region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Communication or related field required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the annual strategy and plan for volunteer resources in collaboration with Hospice departments.
  • Align volunteer programs with Hospice business needs and growth objectives to support an integrated care model.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with Hospice leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Plan, promote, and participate in annual volunteer recognition events across all regions.
  • Recruit, onboard, and manage volunteers and proper separation, ensuring appropriate assignments within the agency.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training; conduct regular huddles and feedback sessions to ensure performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Design and implement volunteer training programs, including initial orientation, onboarding, and ongoing monthly and annual education.
  • Coordinate volunteer assignments to meet staffing and business needs.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer files and an up-to-date list of active volunteers in collaboration with HR, including documentation of required education, vaccinations, and training attendance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of volunteer visit documentation into the EMR system.
  • Develop and maintain collateral materials for volunteer programs and services.
  • Monitor and report volunteer utilization to meet Medicare requirements (minimum 5%).
  • Establish and track performance metrics to measure operational impact, Hospice department performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with HHC/HHCAH policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
