About The Position

Mission Healthcare is hiring a Hospice Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to hospice patients and their families in the High Desert/Palm Springs area, including Yucca Valley, Landers, and 29 Palms. The role provides individualized spiritual care, bereavement support, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. The schedule is full time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The stated pay range is $35.00–$38.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

• Master of Divinity or equivalent theological degree from an accredited institution.
• Ordination or endorsement from a recognized religious body.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and counseling skills.
• Ability to work with individuals from diverse religious, cultural, and spiritual backgrounds.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation.

• Previous experience in hospice, hospital, or pastoral care settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual and emotional support to hospice patients and their families.
• Visit patients, family members, and caregivers regularly to assess spiritual needs.
• Offer prayer, counseling, and support based on the individual needs of patients and families.
• Develop and implement individualized spiritual care plans.
• Support interdisciplinary team members by offering spiritual insight into patient care.
• Conduct memorial services, grief support groups, and other services as needed.
• Respect and honor diverse cultural, spiritual, and religious practices and traditions.
• Collaborate with social workers, nurses, physicians, and other care team members to ensure holistic care.
• Provide bereavement support to families after a death, including follow-up calls and visits.
• Maintain accurate documentation of spiritual care interactions and outcomes.
