About The Position

Ohio’s Hospice is seeking a compassionate and experienced Hospice Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families receiving hospice care. This is a PRN, on-call position with coverage needs between 5:00 PM and 8:00 AM on varied days of the week. The Hospice Chaplain develops meaningful, supportive relationships with patients and families while honoring each individual's beliefs, values, traditions, and preferences.

Requirements

• Three years of current active pastoral ministry or chaplaincy experience.
• Computer skills sufficient to accurately document services and care.
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
• State-required automobile insurance.
• Ability to safely drive during daytime, nighttime, and inclement weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

• Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent theological degree preferred.
• Ordained or commissioned minister with ecclesiastical endorsement from a recognized faith group or religious organization preferred.
• Board certified, certification eligible, or actively working toward professional certification through APC, BCC-HPCC, NACC, or NAJC preferred.
• Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE): Four units preferred; minimum of one unit with enrollment toward completion.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual and emotional support to hospice patients and their families.
• Establish, develop, and maintain compassionate relationships with patients, families, and caregivers.
• Assess spiritual and emotional needs and provide individualized support based on patient and family preferences.
• Provide appropriate spiritual care, counseling, presence, prayer, ritual, or other support consistent with the patient's beliefs and wishes.
• Support patients and families as they navigate end-of-life experiences, grief, loss, and transitions.
• Respect and support diverse faith traditions, spiritual beliefs, and personal values.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to support holistic patient care.
• Communicate relevant spiritual and psychosocial needs with members of the care team.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and patient care.
• Travel to patient homes, facilities, and other care settings as needed.
• Participate in on-call coverage and respond to patient and family needs during assigned hours.
