About The Position

Overview: Starting Pay $36.90/hr, can be more based on experience Mon-Thurs (no Fridays): 8am-430pm. 32 hours/week.Approx. 5-6 days on call/month. All patient care occurs in the patient home in a 9 County Central Ohio service area. Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance is required by hospital policy. Must pass a motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and must maintain qualification of insurance guidelines. Job Description Summary: Assists patients with terminal or life-limiting conditions and their families with pain, symptom, and plan of care management. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with ANA Code of Ethics and maintains a current Ohio Nursing License. Job Description: Essential Functions: Performs home-based care with family-centered approach. Assesses individualized patient needs. Communicates patient care needs, priorities, updates, and changes in condition per Board of Nursing, Medicare/Medicaid Guidelines, Joint Commission and the policies of Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Nationwide Children’s Hospital Home Health and Hospice. Acts as the on-call nurse for a portion of each month, divided among the nursing team. Practices with a competent and compassionate approach to supporting patients and families facing terminal and life-limiting conditions. Actively participates in the interdisciplinary team and maintains their primary patients’ plan of care.

Requirements

  • BSN, required.
  • RN, required.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.
  • Must have excellent critical thinking skills, good communication and customer service skills, and the ability to organize and manage time well.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Necessary skills include, but are not limited to, pediatric assessment, infusion and central line care, injections, wound care and patient education.
  • Must be comfortable with end-of-life discussions and patient experiences.
  • One year of pediatric experience, required.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of hospice or palliative care experience, preferred.
