About The Position

A Hospice Aide, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, provides care and assistance to terminally ill patients within the scope of experience and ability, including: · Clean and bathe patients · Assistance in toileting · Maintain patients’ hygiene and change bedding · Turn, reposition and transfer or move patients between wheelchairs, seats and beds · Serve meals and help patients eat their food · Assist in cleaning and housekeeping of rooms and facility · Maintain par stock of supplies on hand · Measure vital signs like blood pressure and temperature · Observe and listen to patients regarding any health concerns they might have and report details or changes in condition to nurse · Three 12 hour day shifts, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, including weekends, at Hospice Inpatient Care in Seaman, OH

Requirements

  • Completion of State approved Nurse Aide course, testing, and registration required.
  • Personal qualities of empathy, responsibility, and dependability.
  • Must demonstrate effective communication skills with team members, clients, and family members.
  • Must have ability to accept supervision and follow instructions.
  • Must carry state minimum in automobile liability insurance.
  • Able to access patient rooms and facility independently.
  • Must demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment and observe universal precautions.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds using proper body mechanics and be able to assist patient using aids, such as Hoyer lift.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one of year experience in a patient care position in a hospital, nursing home, or related health care facility preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
