Hospice Admissions RN
About The Position
As an admissions nurse at VITAS Healthcare, you are often the first face of hospice for patients and families. You may lead their first in-depth discussion about end-of-life care, helping set expectations for the journey ahead. You travel within your assigned service area to meet patients and families, educate them about hospice care and VITAS services, listen empathetically to their needs, wishes, and beliefs, and determine whether hospice is appropriate. You help ensure a comfortable transition for patients who choose hospice care with VITAS, delivering compassionate, personalized care that honors each patient’s wishes. Most admissions nurses work four 10-hour shifts per week, though schedules may vary. Work involves traveling to hospitals, nursing facilities, and patient residences to assess patients’ needs as calls arrive.
Requirements
- Current RN license.
- Reliable transportation.
- Previous experience in a physician’s office, hospital, long-term care facility, or assisted living facility.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
