SUMMARY OF POSITION : To perform a variety of standardized operations by cutting and assemblying various sizes, lengths and types of polyflex thermoplastic hoses and appropriate connections in multiple assembly cells.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Production work preferred but not required.
• Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Sound decision making skills.
• Good math, reading, writing skills.
• Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Basic computer skills.
• Vision: Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks.
• Must be able to operate material handling vehicles (forklift).

• Employee must pass Pre-employment screening
• Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, safety vests )
• Standing is required for extended periods of time.
• Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis
• Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions
• Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all equipment is calibrated in accordance with calibration schedule
• Follow guidelines for proper set up for assembly and the actual assembly of product
• Perform ordinary set up on special purpose hose assembly machines involving selection and positioning of size dies, check jaws, blocks and special holding devices
• Perform basic assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, test equipment, assembly fixtures and inspection measurement equipment (i.e. pressure test, saw, hydraulic press, calipers, rulers and height gauge)
• Assemble proper fittings to hose, exercising proper care to avoid excessive pressure and tighten fittings as needed to avoid crossing of threads
• Assembles values with instructions and supervision in a work cell
• Inspect and test each product produced to proper pressure and ensure quality standards are met, record test results on data forms
• Insert plastic caps on each end of hose to protect end fitting threads
• Clean hose/hose cover with cleaning solution
• Engage in business/team meetings when necessary
• Assist with problem solving efforts to improve operational efficiency
• Maintain work area in clean and orderly fashion, follow 5S practices
• Know and practice all safety regulations and quality guidelines
• Raise quality or technical issues to Hose Assembler Lead
• Perform work of an equal or lower classification
• Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment.
• Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk.
• Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
• Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
