About The Position

Bartlett Tree Experts is hiring an entry-level Horticulturist to join its Horticulture and Conservation crew at its Research Lab in North Carolina. The role provides hands-on, on-the-job training in scientific plant care and management while working alongside horticulturists and botanists. It is a physically demanding outdoor position focused on developing a career in horticulture. The company emphasizes safety, scientific research, lifelong learning, and career development.

Requirements

Passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors.
Comfort working outdoors in year-round Carolina weather.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team.
Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

Prior gardening, landscape, or horticulture experience is preferred but not required.
A degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Learn through on-the-job training to safely perform horticulture work, including plant identification, responsible pruning, and planting and repotting techniques.
Help maintain the plant nursery and greenhouses.
Care for an extensive collection of rare and endangered plants.
Assist horticulturists and plant conservationists with ongoing projects.
Help inventory the growing plant collection.
Learn, understand, and follow safety rules and company safety policies.
