About The Position

Culver Academies is a private boarding school seeking diverse talent to support its mission of educating students for leadership and responsible citizenship by developing the whole individual. Located on 1,800 acres with a historic campus on the shore of Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver, Indiana, the school offers a serene setting with access to nearby cities. The Horsemanship Instructor and Polo Coach will provide instruction in horsemanship and coach the Culver polo teams, contributing to the development of students' minds, spirits, and bodies.

Requirements

Ability to work within a small team to achieve outputs.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
At least 10 years of experience in all phases of equine instruction and polo training and competitions at United States Polo Association level.
Solid understanding of the game of polo, including strategy and rules.
Capable trainer with the ability to train unbroken horses and maintain trained horses.
Solid understanding of safety procedures required to handle and train large animals.
Ability to identify lameness and injuries in horses.
Ability to provide some veterinary treatments to horses.

Responsibilities

Provide instruction in basic to advanced techniques in all riding disciplines.
Coach and manage the Culver polo teams.
Train horses.
Manage tack and equipment inventory.
Assist with stable management.
Work a 12-month position for both the Boarding school and the Culver Summer School and Camps.
Participate in various clubs and activities.
Coach athletic teams.
Perform student supervisory and chaperone duties.
Engage in other duties assigned by proper authorities.
