About The Position

Hexcel is currently seeking a Horizontal Sawyer for our Casa Grande, AZ, USA location. This position is on our “T2-AM” 2x2x5x5 shift: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday (Week 1) 7:00AM to 7:00PM; and Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (Week 2) 7:00AM to 7:00PM. Overtime is often required. The selected individual will be responsible for processing core through the horizontal saws to cut core into the thickness required by customer specifications, operating and maintaining each of the horizontal saws, and performing general setups, especially the spinner block assembly and associated parts. They will also verify cell count and dimensions, operate saws using variable saw speeds and setups to accomplish the required T/tolerance and surface quality for each product, and evaluate visual quality of material to ensure it meets specifications. The role involves recording and tracking T thickness, tolerance, and density using the SPC online computer program, tracking saw performance against the number of jobs required, and reporting material usage and movement. Additionally, the Horizontal Sawyer will assist in various operations such as trimming, sawing, blowout, wash-dry, and rework. They will perform duties of “water spider” when rotated into these duties, which include blade and material changeovers, delivery of coupons to QA, replenishing expendable materials, and related duties. When rotated into “skinsticker” duties, they will schedule all non-metallic core through the appropriate saws based on saw capabilities and customer start date, and process all blocks and stubs through block trim, color-code, and skinstick as indicated by the saw routing.

Requirements

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
Minimum of one year experience required, preferably in manufacturing.
Must be proficient in use of tape measure and ruler.
Basic working knowledge of computer data entry function required.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Eligible candidate must be a: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, person lawfully admitted for permanent residence, temporary resident under sections 210(a) or 245(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, person admitted in refugee status, or person granted asylum.
