About The Position

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Horizonal Slitter (Operator A) on 2nd shift at our Conover, NC manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for cutting foam materials used in bedding/mattress fabrication process. Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the Slitter Operator, you will be expected to operate the slitter to ensure maximum usage of bun/sheet stock material with a minimal generation of trim material.

Requirements

Basic computer knowledge and the ability to use computerized equipment in daily operations.
Ability to work flexible hours and overtime.
Must have basic reading, writing, and math skills.
Must have the ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
Some computer knowledge and use
Navigate through (SAP) to complete/check daily orders
Must be able to read and interpret a tape measure
Perform basis math skills
Safely operate a forklift
Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Nice To Haves

Prior machine experience and forklift is a plus.

Responsibilities

Must be able to read and complete the labeling process.
Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe working environment.
Must be able to operate the machinery proficiently according to customer specifications and the daily production schedule.
Conducts quality checks to ensure product meets all specifications.
Monitors the equipment to make sure that downtime is kept to a minimum.
Inputs pertinent data into the SAP system.
Must be able to make machine adjustment when necessary.
Cross trained to operate other cutting machines in the department.
Other tasks as deemed necessary by supervision.
Assists with inventory, as required.
Other duties as assigned by management.
