About The Position

Performs professional level duties under minimal supervision to implement a multi-tiered school-wide prevention and intervention program. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a thorough knowledge of student counseling, and effective interaction skills when working with at-risk students. This role involves regular contact with parents, students, teachers, support staff, and administration, requiring tact, diplomacy, and independent judgment for problem-solving, interpreting policies, and providing counseling techniques.

Requirements

  • Hold a current teaching certification.
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience.
  • Experience working with children in mental health, counseling, or a related field.
  • Knowledgeable of and able to comply with FERPA and special education laws including confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Mental Health (preferred).
  • Oklahoma Department of Education State Licensure or Certification in Licensed Mental Health Professional may include: LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LADC-MH preferred.
  • Experience in an elementary education setting is preferred.
  • Home visits to school families may be included in activities.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate sustainability and expansion of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) practices school-wide with emphasis on Tier II and III implementation.
  • Assist administration in identifying, referring, and implementing intervention programs for students with behavioral needs to support academic progress.
  • Provide group or individual support for students identified as experiencing crisis, trauma, and/or mental health needs.
  • Oversee school-wide behavioral data collection, management, and analysis.
  • Train and provide ongoing support to staff with school-wide Tier I, II, and III behavior support.
  • Track and analyze student discipline referrals, suspensions, team implementation, and program surveys.
  • Conduct multiple assessments.
  • Assist with Response to Intervention (RTI) practices for students and teachers to promote academic achievement.
  • Supervise students throughout the building and grounds throughout the workday.
  • Care for and effectively assist students.
  • Model friendships, acceptance, and recognition.
  • Encourage effective learning with proper group and teaching techniques.
  • Involve learners and encourage individual response.
  • Establish activities that require independent student participation.
  • Ensure students are acquiring skills and knowledge to apply principles, theories, and other learning skills to support academic and behavioral needs.
  • Contribute to the effectiveness/quality of school programs, including extracurricular programs.
  • Actively support and look for ways to improve the quality of education, including cooperating with other school personnel.
  • Serve on committees with a constructive attitude.
  • Continue personal growth and development.
  • Care for and effectively assist students with special concerns.
  • Interact constructively with parents.
  • Attend school and district meetings as required by administration.
  • Conduct parent training aligned to school-wide behavior program and provide individual parental support for students being identified with behavioral needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
